Frequently Asked Questions

Whats does “Standard kit prints/ month” in pricing mean?

Instead of paying a dollar amount for each kit, you pay for a subscription with a certain amount of points. Then you spend those points printing kits. Kits belong to two collections: Standard Kits Collection which are less complex kits and the Premier Kits Collection which are more deluxe kits. Standard Kits are 5 points. Premier Kits are 10 points.

If there is curriculum written for a kit, 5 points will be added to the price of the kit. All curriculum currently written for that kit, as well as any additional curriculum added to that kit in the future, will be included. So, whether a kit has 1 lesson plan or 5, it’s still only 5 additional points. You cannot opt out of the curriculum if it is part of the kit.

  • Starter kit has 18 points which are enough points to print up to three Standard Collection kits that do not have curriculum (3 x 5 = 15). If you print a Premier kit that has curriculum, you could print one kit at a cost of 15 points.
  • Basic kit has 70 points which are enough points to print up to fourteen Standard Collection kits that do not have curriculum (14 x 5 = 60). If you print kits from the Premier Collection that have curriculum, you could print four kits at a cost of 60 points (4 x 15 = 60).
  • Premium kit has 144 points which are enough points to print up to twenty-eight Standard Collection kits that do not have curriculum (28x 5 = 140). If you print kits from the Premier Collection that have curriculum, you could print nine kits at a cost of 140 points (9 x 15 = 135).

What are “Points”

Any of the single-user subscriptions utilize points to keep track of how much you are printing. Enterprise users do not have to worry about points.

Points can be spent to print kits.

Kits which have curriculum are an additional 5 points. An example of a 5-point kit is our Microscope Phone Adapter Kit, which allows users to attach a smart phone to a microscope to easily capture what’s on the microscope. As a tool, it does not have curriculum. An example of a 15-point kit is our DNA Kit. A complex kit covering multiple topics and including over half a dozen lesson plans, this is a more expensive purchase.

Points might also be used to replace broken or lost parts. Spare parts can most often be printed for 1 or 2 points, depending on complexity.
Additional points can be purchased if you run out.

Explain “rollover and transfer points”

If you do not use all your points during the month, they will not expire as long as your subscription remains active.

If you do not renew your subscription, any points that you have not used will be inaccessible. To use your subscription points, you will need to renew your subscription. Your account will remain in our system, along with your points – but until you renew your subscription, your account will be inaccessible.

Can I purchase additional points?

If you do not have enough points during an active subscription month, you can purchase additional points. Just login and go to your profile. There you can choose the renew or upgrade subscription to access the Purchase Additional Points portal. The additional points work exactly the same as any other points. Simply purchase the amount of points you need and spend them on kits.

I need help picking the right plan

If you only need a single user and no more than a classroom set of kits a month, you should opt for one of the points-based subscriptions.
If you need multiple users or plan on printing a lot, our Enterprise subscription options are right for you.
We also offer custom pricing packages both with and without printers that allow you to customize a package to suit your needs.

How many points are the kits worth?

10 pts – These kits include the models as well as corresponding curriculum.

Premier kits are valued at 10 points and 15 points.
10 pts – These kits include just the models but do not have corresponding curriculum.
